Brazos Valley Food Bank
Hunger does not stop at the county line
In the Brazos Valley, food access depends on a network that reaches well beyond Bryan and College Station.
The Short Version
A six-county hunger-relief network with mobile pantries, school food programs, senior support and benefits assistance.
A rural service map
Brazos Valley Food Bank serves Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson and Washington counties from its Bryan facility. Its public overview emphasizes the rural character of that territory. The organization is an independent nonprofit and a partner food bank of Houston Food Bank, combining a local identity with access to a larger distribution system.
Several routes to the same need
Its program list shows why one delivery model is insufficient. Mobile food pantries reach rural communities; BackPacks and school pantries address students' needs; senior bags and Project GotEM add options for older or homebound neighbors. Benefits assistance, referrals and nutrition education sit alongside distribution. For a donor, the useful distinction is between supplying food and building the practical routes through which a household can reliably obtain it.
Giving with a local purpose
The giving form allows contributions to be directed to named programs or where most needed. A supporter can therefore connect a gift with mobile pantries, children's food programs, senior outreach or other parts of the organization's work. Executive Director Theresa Mangapora leads an institution rooted in local partnerships. Its combination of distribution, education and benefits assistance gives those partnerships several ways to respond when a household's resources fall short.
