Food Bank of the Golden Crescent

A food network for the Crossroads

The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent connects Victoria's resources with communities across an eleven-county region.

The Short Version

Food distribution, children's meals and senior support across eleven counties surrounding Victoria.

Built for a varied region

The Food Bank of the Golden Crescent began in 1986 and now supports more than 100 partner agencies across eleven counties. Its territory reaches coastal communities and inland towns, including Calhoun, Goliad, Jackson, Lavaca, Matagorda, Refugio, Wharton and Victoria counties. That breadth makes regional coordination a practical part of feeding people.

Its approach combines food distribution with nutrition education, advocacy and community partnerships. Mobile distributions address places with limited pantry access. Kids' Weekend Meals helps cover gaps outside the school week, while the senior box program provides monthly food for eligible adults age 60 and older.

The local capacity behind the meals

The organization reports distributing more than 7.2 million pounds of food during 2025 through its partner network. Its farmers' market work adds another dimension: connecting access to fresh produce with support for local growers.

Led by President and CEO Robin Cadle, the food bank offers one-time and recurring giving, as well as contributions by phone or mail and employer matching. Those options support a regional effort that relies on local partners to reach households. A gift connects with work spanning the warehouse, the mobile distribution site, the child's weekend food bag and the older adult's monthly supply of groceries.
