01

Eliza and her son

Eliza Whitehead Perry was the wife of Daniel Perry III and the mother of James Whitehead Perry. Clayton’s published account identifies that relationship at the head of the Texas family line he follows through the Brazos country.

Her son married Sarah Ann Courtney in 1857. Through their descendants, Eliza’s place in the family continues toward the later Stonewall County generations.

An individual place in the record

The current sources preserve Eliza chiefly through those family relationships. They do not yet support a detailed account of her own work, preferences or daily life.

This shorter account keeps her name and known family connection distinct from Daniel’s much more extensive public history.
