A life, recovered
William H. “Bill” Pritchett
Uncle Billy, in his own name

The marker at Vaughan
William H. “Bill” Pritchett, known as Uncle Billy, is commemorated by a military marker at Vaughan Cemetery immediately in front of the marker for his parents, Turner Pinkston Pritchett and Mary Amby Marbut.
Clayton encountered that arrangement during the family’s September 2026 visit. The marker placed one of Big Mama’s brothers within the same physical landscape as the older Pritchett household.

Two brothers, two stories
Gia’s recollection clarified that Uncle Billy was not Uncle Willie, the brother remembered for mowing yards and giving children Dr Pepper money.
Preserving their separate names keeps an affectionate family story from becoming an accidental merger of two lives.
