01
James Daniel’s generation
James Daniel “J.D.” Perry was the son of James Whitehead Perry and Sarah Ann Courtney Perry, and the father of James Albert “Jim” Perry.
His family connects two familiar parts of Clayton’s history: the nineteenth-century Brazos household and the later Stonewall County ranch generation.

02
The Sherrod connection
The family register identifies Lula A. Sherrod as J.D.’s wife. That marriage brings the Sherrod branch into the story alongside the Perry and Courtney names.
The current account establishes those family connections. It leaves the exact sequence of J.D.’s moves and his individual occupations open rather than supplying a conventional pioneer story in their place.
