The people who made the crop possible
The photograph contains machinery, sacks, loose peanuts and the people whose labor brought them together. Ramon’s inclusion keeps the account from becoming only a story about the family that owned the land.
No kinship with the Perrys is established. He belongs in this history through his own labor and the family’s memory of his recurring presence.
